Biographical / Historical
The Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging (KIHA) was first established under the name "Center for Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease" in 2006 after the University of Denver aquired the Eleanor Roosevelt Institute (ERI). Since then, KIHA has also been named "Knoebel Center for the Study of Aging" (from around 2010 forward) in honor of the generous founding donations from the late Betty Knoebel. Most of the aquired materials are sourced from Dr. Lynn Taussig, one of the main founding parties for the Center for Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease. There is no strictly apparent relationship between KIHA and ERI (whose records exist in U158) aside from the corresponding dates and shared funding, hence why KIHA has been given a separate collection.
