Michael Saliman Papers and Religious Objects

 Collection
Identifier: B342
The Saliman family of Denver, Colorado dates back to Paul Michael (known as Michael) and Bessie Radetsky Saliman, both from Russia and born in 1852 and 1853, respectively. As did most Jewish families, Paul Michael and his wife Bessie Radetsky Saliman settled on the west side near Sloan's Lake in 1886. Michael pushed a cart through the alleys of Denver collecting rags and junk to re-sell, finally developing a business of collecting, cleaning and recycling milk bottles for local dairies.Included are several Jewish religious objects used by the family. Collection is connected to B236 Saliman Family Papers Collection and also to the Alan Saliman Family Papers, B399. Collection contains an amulet, a memorial to Michael Saliman, yearbooks, vinyl records, and a family tree related to Michael Saliman from 1852 through 1910.
