- Colorado Dance Alliance (Organization)
Biographical / Historical
The Colorado Dance Alliance was a statewide organiation beginning in 1980 whose mission was to foster and suport dance in Colorado. The organization was a forum to discuss current events of the Colorado dance community through distribution of a newsletter. This grew into annual dance educator workshops, access to master classes and the development of open stage events. In November of 2013 the board made the decision to refocus CDA and make the transition to the Colorado Dance Education Organization, (CoDEO), a state affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). It was the board's desire to maintain the foundation that CDA had previously built and serve the dance community through the lens of education.
The organization is dedicated to increasing the awareness of dance as a performance art and as an area of education; serving an aesthetically diverse dance artists representing a broad range of styles and forms by providing dance artists with tools which will enable them to design and further their careers in the field; providing information regarding dance to the membership as well as non-members.
