Abstract

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Donald McIntosh was a lieutenant in the US Army who was killed at the Battle of Little Big Horn in Montana in 1876. Daniel G. Magnussen was a retired military officer, historian, and professor at Stout State University (now University of Wisconsin-Stout). Magnussen transcribed McIntosh's notebook, which he had kept from 1872 until his death in 1876.

Biographical / Historical

Daniel G. Magnussen was born April 14, 1919. He wrote articles and edited books about the Battle of the Little Big Horn, otherwise known as Custer's Last Stand. He was a Lt. Colonel, Armor, retired and an Associate Professor of History at Stout State University (now University of Wisconsin-Stout) in Menomonie, Wisconsin. He died January 2, 2005.

This transcription of the notebook of a member of the 7th calvary who died at the Battle of the Little Big Horn was found in the collection. We have no record of its donation.
