Biographical / Historical

Wanda Tierney is a professional dancer and choreographer, dancing with regional companies in Fort Worth, Daytona Beach, and New Orleans. After teaching at Ballet Art Boulder, Wanda Tierney and Barbara Demaree bought the studio from Larry Boyette in 1981 and founded Boulder Ballet Ensemble. Wanda Tierney served as Artistic Director of the Boulder Ballet Ensemble from 1982 to 1989. The company changed its name from Boulder Ballet Ensemble to Boulder Ballet in 1985. Wanda choreographed many of the pieces performed by the company during that time including "Colorado's Best Nutcracker" in 1988. Wanda continued choreographing after leaving Boulder Ballet in 1989 for community organizations and was nominated for a Drama Critic Award in 2000 for her work with a production titled "Nine."
