Abstract The Dance Archive was founded in 1972 at Colorado Women's College. The library is now housed at the University of Denver under Special Collections and Archives. The library's mission is to advance education and engagement with resources across all genres of dance and movement, with an emphasis on the American West. This collection contains administrative and financial materials, programming materials, scrapbooks and realia, and publications.

The Dance Archive "Festival Caravan" Oral History Project

Abstract This collection contains oral histories conducted by the Carson Brierly Giffin Dance Library for the 2017 annual project "Festival Caravan." Interviews include Buddy Butler, Frederick Glick, the Lowenstein family, Schyleen Qualls, and Cleo Parker Robinson. It also contains copies of the documentary created for the 2017 annual meeting, "Festival Caravan." In 2019, the Carson Brierly Giffin Dance Library rebranded as The Dance Archive.

The Dance Archive Oral Histories on Perry-Mansfield Dance Camp

Abstract

In 2013, the Friends of the Carson Brierly Giffin Dance Library (later rebranded as The Dance Archive) did a series of interviews with faculty, students, community members and other individuals affliated with the Perry Mansfield Dance Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. These interviews were conducted in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Perry Mansfield Dance Camp. The interviews were all videotaped at Perry Mansfield Dance Camp between July 20th and July 24th, 2013.

Abstract In 2016, in conjuction with Carson Brierly Giffin Dance Library's annual exhibit "Rising Stars: Denver Civic Ballet and Ballet Guild," oral histories were conducted to be included in the supplemental documentary for the exhibit. These oral histories include interviews with former dancers, costumers, and journalists. In 2019, the Carson Brierly Giffin Dance Library rebranded as The Dance Archive.
