Abstract Since 2004, the Friends of The Dance Archive have honored several individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to dance as "Legends of Dance in Colorado" each year. This collection contains oral histories, plaques inscribed with the names of the honorees, as well as files containing transcripts of oral histories with the honorees, biographical information about the honorees, and audiovisual recordings and highlight reels from the annual awards banquet.
Abstract Lillian Covillo was an alumna of the University of Denver who co-founded the Colorado Ballet along with Freidann Parker. This collection includes photos, programs, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks and ephemera related to Covillo and Parker's dance work and teaching.
Abstract Suzanne Shelton Buckley (1946- ) received her doctorate in American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin in 1980. She wrote her dissertation about dancer and choreographer, Ruth St. Denis (1878-1968). Her dissertation was published by Doubleday in 1981 as Divine Dancer: A Biography of Ruth St. Denis.
