Lena Harper Trott Theatre Scrapbooks

Overview

Lena Harper Trott graduated from the University of Denver in 1907. She married Alfred Blake Trott, the president of Daniels & Fisher Company, and they had a daughter, Frances Harper Trott. This collection contains two scrapbooks. The first covers the Tabor Theatre, the Broadway Theatre and Elitch Theatre from 1898-1910. The second covers theatres in Denver, New York and Chicago from 1909-1913.

Levette J. Davidson (1894-1957) was a professor of English literature at the University of Denver from 1922-1957, specializing in folklore and literature of the American West. He served as head of English Department (1940-1957), and was the first faculty member elected president of the University Senate. He wrote several books including A guide to American folklore, The Rockies and beyond, and Literature of Colorado.

Overview Lillian Stein was born on July 7, 1907 in Denver to David and Rose Stein. Her father was a tailor and a cantor. Billie (Lillian) Stein began playing the trumpet in The Denver Post Boys Band. She started her all girls band at 14 and took Billie's Harmony Girls jazz band on the road when she graduated from high school at the age of 15. Overview Luby Chevrolet, one of Colorado's oldest car dealerships, was started in 1920 in Denver, Colorado by Sam Luby, later joined by brothers Louis and Henry Luby. Joe Luby, who had worked at Luby Chevrolet from the bottom up, bought out his brothers in 1956. "Papa Joe" moved the dealership to Colorado in 1972.
