Abstract
The Fair Cookbook was published by the Ladies of Congregation Emanuel in Denver, Colorado in 1888. It is the earliest known Jewish fundraising cookbook in America. The cookbook was sold at the fair that the Ladies of Temple Emanuel organized in 1888 to pay off the mortgage on the Temple. Founded in 1874, Temple Emanuel, also known as Congregation Emanuel, is the largest and oldest synagogue in the Rocky Mountain Region. The location at 16th and Pearl streets was dedicated in January of 1899 and served the congregation until they fully expanded into their current location on Grape Street in 1960. General Rose Memorial Hospital was founded in 1945. The hospital was named for General Maurice Rose, a Denver native, who had been killed in action the same year. General Rose was the highest ranking American officer killed in action in Europe and also the highest ranking Jewish officer in the Army. Abstract
The Talmudic Research Institute (TRI-Sulom Congregation) was an orthodox Chasidic synagogue and study center organized by Rabbi B. C. Shloime Twerski in 1970. He was succeeded in 1981 by his son Rabbi Mordecai D. Twerski. Rabbi Mordecai Twerski led the TRI-Sulom until returning to New York in 2000. The records consist of three annual fundraising dinner journals.
