Fred Veston was originally from Poland and survived the Holocaust. After World War II, he came to the US and settled in Albuquerque, NM. He was a painter and would paint portraits as bar/bat mitzvah gifts for the members of his congregation. Collection contains 2 paintings by Fred Veston. One is a portrait of a young woman lighting candles; it was a gift for her from the artist for her Bat Mitzvah. Abstract
Alexander Kagan was born in Paris, France in 1906 to Russian parents. At the age of 14, Alexander began work as a fabric and jewelry designer. He came to the United States in 1922 with his mother Chana (Anna) and his brother Haim Persah (Paul). He worked as a fabric designer in New York and in 1930 he became a US citizen. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Pueblo, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1954 and died in the Denver area in 1994....

Dr. Charles Spivak was born in Russia in 1861 and died in Denver, Colorado in 1927. He arrived in New York City in 1882 and graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1893, Charles Spivak married Jennie Charsky. Because of Jennie's poor health the Spivaks moved to Denver in 1896.
