Sobol Family Digitized Lease and Photographs

Overview Leon and Ella Sobol came from Minnesota to Denver in the early 1900s. In 1908 Ella Sobol signed a lease with Harris Pellish to use his property at 2715 West Colfax for a theatre until 1910. Pellish opened a movie theatre in 1910. Harry Sobol, Leon and Ella's son, Harry married Sarah Gross. Two of their sons were Bill and Maurice Barnard Sobol. Overview Tillye Shulman Levy was one of the Denver Jewish community’s most dedicated and effective volunteers. Born in Central City in 1895, she first became involved in philanthropic charity work as a young woman, after meeting Fannie Lorber, the longtime president of the Denver Sheltering Home for Jewish Children.
