Overview Leopold H. Guldman was born in Harburg, Bavaria in 1853 and immigrated to the United States in 1870. He was one of Colorado's leading merchants and philanthropists. Guldman came to the Colorado mountains in search of silver, but found it more profitable to open the Golden Eagle clothing stores in Leadville and Cripple Creek. Congregation Albert (Albuquerque, N.M.) Records

Overview Congregation Albert was established in 1897 by Alfred Grunsfeld, Henry N. Jaffa and Berthold Apitz. The naming rights were auctioned off and the Grunsfeld family, for $250, chose to name the synagogue after Alfred's late father, Albert Grunsfeld. The first building was dedicated in 1900, the second building was dedicated in 1951 and the third in 1984. The collection contains histories of the congregation and dedication journals from 1951 and 1984.

He initiated a development fund during his presidency of the JCC and the new facilities were dedicated in August of 1972.
