Abstract A group of Jewsish friends, who had grown up on Denver's Jewish West Side neighborhood, organized a pinic. The Denver West Side Reunion Picnic was held on July 15, 1979. High school classes of 1955 through 1958 were invited. Roberta Greengard, chair of the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society, prepared questionnaires. Plans were made to have a larger reunion and invite people who had been part of the Jewish West Side. The West Side Reunion was held July 4-6, 1985. Reunion members again...

Hornbein Family Papers

Abstract

The Hornbein family of Denver, Colorado, was actively involved in the Colorado Jewish and larger community. Philip L. Hornbein (1879-1962) married Flora Anfenger (1888-1964) in 1905, and they had three children: Louis (1907-1912), Marjorie (1913-2006) and Philip (1915-1987). The collections consists of material objects, photographs, and documents that belonged to the Hornbein family.

Abstract

Twenty-three-year-old Rabbi Manuel Laderman (tallest man in the group) surrounded by delegates from the Hebrew Educational Alliance upon his arrival at Union Station, Denver, Colorado in 1932. He graduated from the Hebrew Theological College in Illinois and had just been ordained when he came to Denver to serve as the first Rabbi of the Hebrew Educational Alliance. He served as rabbi at the Orthodox synagogue until 1979. He was born August 25, 1909 and died in Denver on November 27, 1989.
