Abstract Burton Edward Feldman (1926-2003) served as faculty member of University of Denver, Department of English from 1965-1998. During his time at the University, Feldman acted as Director of Undergraduate Honors in English (1968 - 1974), Editor of the Denver Quarterly (1970 - 1975), and Director of Graduate Studies in English (1980 - 1984). Abstract

The Imperial Stamp Collection was housed at the Library and given to Special Collections when that department was organized in the 1960s. The Collection consists of world maps with stamps from the colonies of the Dutch, German, Italian, French and British Empires together with pages for the Belgian Congo and United States possessions.

Abstract

Sarah Kahn made a traditional wimpel--from the swaddling cloths of Yaakov Ben Naftali Kahn--in Boppard, Germany, in 1899. When the Kahn family came to America in 1938 they changed their name to Kern. In 1940, Charles Kern, Yaakov's brother, married Edith Stern in New York City and the couple moved to Denver, Colorado. Edith Stern was born in Germany in 1914 and emigrated to the United States in 1935. She died in Denver in 2016 at the age of 101.

Collection contains family documents and material objects related to the Loeb Family. Many of these items relate directly to the Holocaust and WWII. Important items include German passports and IDs, documents relating firsthand accounts of WWII and the Holocaust, photographs from before, during, and after the war, including photographs of Ernest Loeb as a US soldier in Germany, Ernest Loeb's Bronze Star Medal, scrapbooks, early German school report cards, and Jewish books of scripture.

Abstract Ernst Heinrich Loewenstein [Henry Lowenstein] was born in Berlin, Germany in 1925 to a Jewish father and a non-Jewish mother. To escape Nazi brutality, he was sent on the Kindertransport to England in 1939. His parents, Dr. Max and Maria Loewenstein, and his half-sister, Karin Steinberg, remained in Berlin during World War II. This collection contains the papers of Vera Sears (1912-2008), dance instructor at the University of Denver, and her husband Edwin Sears (1903-1964), a law professor at the University of Denver. The Sears family emigrated to the United States from Germany in the 1930s. These papers include correspondence, photographs, teaching materials, legal materials, clippings, dance notation notebooks, publications, scrapbooks, and audiovisual materials.

Abstract Wolfgang H. J. Yourgrau (1908-1979) served as Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Denver, Denver, Colorado. He was associated with the University from 1963-1978. He also served as Chair of the Philosophy Department and was a member of the History Department.
