The Imperial Stamp Collection was housed at the Library and given to Special Collections when that department was organized in the 1960s. The Collection consists of world maps with stamps from the colonies of the Dutch, German, Italian, French and British Empires together with pages for the Belgian Congo and United States possessions.

Isidor Hilb was born in Germany in 1884 and arrived in the U.S. in 1898. In Denver he started what became Hilb & Co.. Married to Greta Hilb, he passed away in 1952.

Kern Family Tefillin Bag and Wimpel

Abstract

Sarah Kahn made a traditional wimpel--from the swaddling cloths of Yaakov Ben Naftali Kahn--in Boppard, Germany, in 1899. When the Kahn family came to America in 1938 they changed their name to Kern. In 1940, Charles Kern, Yaakov's brother, married Edith Stern in New York City and the couple moved to Denver, Colorado. Edith Stern was born in Germany in 1914 and emigrated to the United States in 1935. She died in Denver in 2016 at the age of 101.
