Scope Note: Note: General term for copies produced by photocopying, that is, in a machine employing a light-sensitive process, and usually at a one-to-one scale. In the early to mid-20th century, used regarding copies made by various specific processes; since the mid-20th century, most often refers to xerographic copies.
LCGFT uses: Facsimiles, which we should reserve for copies that are exact reproductions, usually by photo offset, photoengraving or a similar process, rather than xerographic, liquid toner or coated paper processes on Xerox, Savin, Verifax and similar machines. adr 7/14/2016
