This box contains two cases of samples of aluminum oxide and sodium carbide. Each sample is in a small glass vial.

This box contains a glass goblet engraved with a seal surrounded by the words "British Ceramists" above and "Pittsburgh May 8, 1929" underneath. The seal appears to be a castle with three birds. The goblet is red with a blue stem.

This box contains a microscope that belong to Alter in what we estimate to be approximately the 1940s or 1950s. This microscope was used by Alter during his time as a student.

This box contains a large glass lens used for a high altitude camera. A note is etched into the service of the glass noting the type of lens and owner as well as a few other illegible notes.

This box contains a piece of 30 gal. shale and a small bottle containing a sample of oil. Both pieces are resting in a piece of wood with a placard in front describing the contents of the sample.

This box contains a sample of indium enclosed in a small glass case. An unidentified metal sample is wrapped in paper and housed in a small wooden box.
