Abstract Rabbi Earl Stone was born in 1914 in Pennsylvania and attended Syracuse University and was ordained before moving to Chicago to serve as the assistant rabbi at Temple Isaiah Israel. He served with General Patton's staff in World War II and was decorated with the Presidential Unit Citation, six battle stars, three bronze arrows, and the bronze star. Abstract

Rabbi Elias Hillkowitz was considered the dean of Denver's early west-side Orthodox Jewish rabbis. He was an early supporter of the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS), where his son, Dr. Philip Hillkowitz, served as president from 1904 to 1948. Rabbi Hillkowitz suggested the JCRS motto from the Talmud: ''He who saves one life saves the world.''
