George Nathan and Fanny Herzel, 1929-1990
Originally from Latvia, George Herzel was a Hebrew teacher and scholar in Denver from 1928 until 1946. George wrote several unpublished manuscripts on Jewish topics, two Jewish guidebooks, essays, and an autobiography. Both George and his wife Fanny (born in Poland, married in 1910) were certified notary publics.
Israel: Correspondence and Trees for Israel, 1959-1988
The file contains correspondence, a letter and certificate for fifteen trees planted in the Rabbi Manuel Laderman Forest in Israel near Galilee, and remarks thanking the HEA congregation for supporting the Forest.
Lewis Chernoff Papers
Dr. Lewis Hill Chernoff was an accomplished violinist who played with the Denver Symphony and Carvallo's Symphony. He was also a chemist and worked for the Food and Drug Administration in Denver. Collection contains miscellaneous papers, diplomas and certificates largely relating to Lewis Chernoff and some to Sophie Chernoff.

Russian Certificate, 1916 August 15
Document in Russian dated August 15, 1916. Says "Certification" across the top in Russian. Maria studied art in Russia but this could be a nursing or medical care related certificate. Mentions a person with the name Anna Arturonvna Bätge (rendered БЕТГЕ in Cyrillic) This would be a daughter to Arthur Ernest Bätge, and sister to Maria Loewenstein. It refers to the period April 1915 to January 1916, and was issued from a difficult to decipher named evacuation hospital no. 131.
