Cheyenne, Wyoming, 1916-1921, 1980-2014
Two Jewish men, Simon Bamberger and Henry Altman, were among the founders of Cheyenne in 1867. Jewsh businessmen followed, and the first congregation was incorporated in 1888. B'nai B'rith was established in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1921.

In 1884, the City Directory of Cheyenne listed 11 businesses owned by Jewish men. In 1913-14, it listed a Jewish cemetery, Mt. Sinai Congregation, and approximatel 43 Jewish family names.

Julia Weisman came to Cheyenne in 1912 at about 15 yrs. old and talks about the difficulties of being Jewish when there are no resources around and very few other Jews. Managed to arranged a bris for her son in Thermopolis, WY when only 3 or 4 Jews lived there.
