She was a member of the prestigious Colorado Authors League and was active in the Jewish American Women Writers. Ida Libert Uchill was born in 1917 on a farm outside of Denver, Colorado to Paul and Fannie Pepper Libert. She died in 2014. Her family on her paternal side arrived in Denver via the port of Galveston in about 1911. In junior high she was a columnist in the childen's section of the Denver Post. Leonid B. Heifets was born 1926 in what is now Belarus. Dr. Heifets began his medical training at age 16, obtaining an MD, PhD and ScD. He participated with the World Health Organization as a member of Russian medical expeditions to the Congo in 1960 and 1962.
