Abstract Isaac Victor, a violinist from Russia who was a patient at the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS), plays the violin. He was admitted for the first time in 1914 and was re-admitted in 1922 where he died. His patient numbers were 2859, 3912, 4537, and 6133 and this portrait was found inside his violin case. The JCRS was a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients that was founded in 1904 by a group of immigrant Jewish workingmen along with the support of several leading physicians and...

Mabel E. (Wickham) Allen (1912-2003) was an alum of Colorado Woman's College (1931) and the University of Denver, Lamont School of Music (1933). This collection contains materials related to Mabel's training and performance as a violinist and her career as a music teacher in Colorado. The materials include textiles, scrapbooks, photographs, memorabilia, diplomas, certificates, books, and other papers.

A male patient sits in a tent playing a violin while male and female sanatorium patients look on. The hospital was founded in 1899. In 1907, the name of the hospital changed to the National Asthma Center. It later became the Children's Asthma Research Institute and Hospital, National Jewish Hospital/National Asthma Center(1978), and National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine(1985).

Riccarda McQuie, a professional violinist, was born in Chicago and moved to Colorado in 1918 to a homestead in the Colorado mountains with her mother. Reflects on her career playing the violin and teaching music students. McQuie discusses playing the violin on KOA radio station as an East High School student, traveling with the Orpheum Circuit, and her association with the Denver Symphony Orchestra (now known as the Colorado Symphony Orchestra).
