Dance schools

Colorado Ballet, located in Denver, Colorado is a regional dance company that was conceived as a ballet school founded in 1951, by Denver natives Freidann Parker and Lillian Covillo. To showcase their students, they established Colorado Concert Ballet in 1961.

Gwen Bowen was a dance instructor in the Denver area who was named a Living Legend of Dance in Colorado by the Friends of the Carson-Brierly Dance Library in 2005. This collection contains magazines, newspaper clipping, costumes, photographs, posters, art, VHS and audio cassette tapes, scrapbooks, and other memorabilia belonging to Gwen Bowen and/or relating to the Gwen Bowen School of Dance Arts.

Lillian Covillo was an alumna of the University of Denver who co-founded the Colorado Ballet along with Freidann Parker. This collection includes photos, programs, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks and ephemera related to Covillo and Parker's dance work and teaching.

This collection contains newspaper clippings, photographs, souvenir programs (some with autographs), and personal writings all related to Ted Shawn from 1910-1990.

This collections contains the records of the Williamson Family and the dance school Maxine inherited from Lillian Cushing. This collection contains photos, music scores, memorabilia, programs, correspondence, writings, and more. Contents relate to the Williamson family as well as Lillian Cushing and Martha Faure Carson.
