Abstract

The Ellen Martha Gourly Scrapbook contains photographs of cliff dwellings and surroundings, as well as photographs of Native Americans. Some photographs show scenes around Colorado and the West. The Scrapbook entitled Sample Book No. 3 Nos 800 to 1232, inclusive, contains photographs of the Piedra Parada Dig near Pagosa Springs, Colorado from 1921-1922.

Evelyn Essig discusses living at the train depot when her father worked for the railroad companies in Kokomo, Colorado and growing up on a Ute Indian Reservation and in Gunnison, Colorado. Reflects on childhood memories such as going to see movies at the theater. Essig spent much of her childhood raising her younger siblings.
