Abstract Dr. Emanuel Friedman came to Colorado in the late 19th century when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He graduated from Denver's Gross Medical College in 1904. He earned a medical degree from the University of the State of New York in 1911--the same year that he became a U.S. citizen.
