Abstract

The Beck Archives Photograph Collection contains photographs, negatives, and other materials which reflect the rich, varied, and vibrant Jewish experience in the Rocky Mountain region, with a special emphasis on Colorado. It also contains some photographs from other states and countries.

Collection contains books and videos, related to Lillian Hoffman from 1960 through 2014. Lillian Hoffman was a founding and active member of the Colorado Committee of Concern for Soviet Jewry. She began public Jewish protests in Denver and was the first to speak to a Soviet Jewish prisoner.

Abstract The Hebrew Progressive Club was organized as a social and charitable organization by recent Jewish immigrants in Greeley, Colorado. It was formed around 1920 and included men and women. The club became a woman's organization and supported such causes as The Children's Campaign, American Medical Center, Beth Israel Hospital in Denver, National Jewish Hospital and the Jewish Home for Asthmatic Children. Collection contains materials from the Mizrachi Women of Denver organization, which was a local chapter of the Mizrachi Womens Organization of America (MWOA). Many of the 1972-1974 Mizrachi Womens events were held at the Hebrew Educational Alliance.

Abstract Ray Morris David was known as the "Little Mother to the Poor" in Denver after she was hired to supervise relief activities for the Denver Jewish Aid Society. Ray David was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1864, the daughter of German Jewish parents, and died in Denver, Colorado in 1945.
