Meta Loewenstein was born May 10, 1891, in a small town in Germany. In 1914, she met Paul Katzenstein, but before they could be married World War I began, and Paul was taken into the German army. He served four years in the army and came home severely wounded. Paul and Meta were married in 1919. Their first son was named Otto in honor of Paul’s brother who died in the war. Sam Weinstein was born on the west side of Denver, Colorado in 1912. He attended the University Of Denver (DU) as an undergraduate and graduated from the law school in 1932. He was an attorney in Denver for many years. Rowena Mae Akers was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1911 and her family moved to Denver in the 1920s. A group of Jewsish friends, who had grown up on Denver's Jewish West Side neighborhood, organized a pinic. The Denver West Side Reunion Picnic was held on July 15, 1979. High school classes of 1955 through 1958 were invited. Roberta Greengard, chair of the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society, prepared questionnaires.
