Edna Kean was born June 20, 1906 to Max and Millie Kean, immigrants from Russia, and married Morris Zivin in Denver. She was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary of Beth Israel Hospital and volunteered with them for many years prior to her death on June 27, 2000.

She was a member of Delta Kappa gamma sorority and was one of the first women to be inducted into the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity. in 1984 she was presented by the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer Award for her extensive volunteer work with schools, the University, various medical centers, and the Salvation Army, among others.
