Lowenstein Watercolor Paintings Collection
Collection contains (6) blue watercolor pieces painted by Maria Lowenstein, Henry Lowenstein's mother. The paintings all depict different dance styles or movement. The materials were donated through Henry Lowenstein's estate.

"Silk Stockings" Scene Panel, circa 1970
Framed gouache watercolor and ink, with pencil sketch visible underneath paint, of ionic columns and railing with plants from the musical "Silk Stockings." Plants are in green, yellow and pink while columns and railings are white with gold accents. Sticker on the reverse side says "Panel 6."
Sketchbook, 1956
One Winsor Spiral Sketchbook, size 5 x 8, filled with pencil sketches of buildings, landscapes and seascapes, one watercolor and a few ink drawings. Several of the sketches have locations in and around Quebec written on them. Sketch book is dated "Summer 1956" on front cover; "Maria Lowenstein" is also written on cover. Stamped "Plankenhorn Stationary Co. Williamsport 2, PA" with "20" written in top right corner of front cover; presumably it was priced at 20 cents.
"Sound of Music" set Panel, 1967
Framed gouache watercolor painting of set with blueish/white Doric columns and heavy red curtains with gold fringe and tassels. On stage left stands a line of Nazi soldiers against a black background while the Von Trapp family stands slightly right of center stage poised to sing. Scene is when the family is performing "Edelweiss" in concert near the end of the play. Framed set panel for "Sound of Music," which was performed at Cheesman Park. Sticker on the reverse side says "Panel 1."

Tevya from "Fiddler on the Roof" Scene Panel, circa 1970
Framed gouache watercolor painting, with pencil sketch visible underneath paint, of a scene from Fiddler on the Roof. The scene shows the lead character, Tevya, standing center stage by a shed on his right and a wagon on his left with rooftops in the background. In he bottom right-hand corner of the page "Fiddler on the Roof" is written in pencil.

Watercolor painting of a vase with flowers in it. Vase is a light blue on an orange and red dotted backdrop, flowers are pinks, yellows, blues, greens and tan. Watercolor is over pencil lines, some of which are still visible. Signed "Greta Hilb" bottom right.
