Miscellaneous photographs of the Lowenstein family members (both individual and group shots), including the family after they were reunited in Pennsylvania. Abstract Fred Veston (1899-1980) was born in Kraków, Austria-Hungary (now Poland) and survived the Holocaust by fleeing east, until reaching Lemberg (now Lviv, Ukraine). Seeing it was no better than Kraków. He then made his way to south western Poland and the Tatra Mountains, where Polish partisan groups continued to fight the German forces. Abstract This is the German passport of Ernest Karl Loeb, issued on May 4, 1939. On the front of the passport is "Deutsches Reich Reisepass" and the Nazi Germany eagle with a swastica. The front page of the passport has a red "J" stamped onto it. Emil Hecht was born in 1924 in Czechoslovakia and died in Denver in 2010. He was a Holocaust survivor and a businessman, the co-founder with Larry Mizel of MDC Holdings. With his wife Eva he established the first endowed chair in Judaic Studies at the University of Denver.
