Emil Hecht was born in 1924 in Czechoslovakia and died in Denver in 2010. He was a Holocaust survivor and a businessman, the co-founder with Larry Mizel of MDC Holdings. With his wife Eva he established the first endowed chair in Judaic Studies at the University of Denver.
