Abstract

The box contains a bible in Hebrew and English, black velvet tallith bag with embroidered turquoise Star of David that belonged to Sam Stoole's grandfather, two of Sam's pipes, and two of the buckles from his belt buckle collection that numbered in the hundreds. The box also contains two men's hats worn by Sam Stoole, photographs and papers.

Abstract Sam Stoole was born in Denver in 1910 and graduated from the University of Colorado School of Engineering. He worked as an engineer for the State of Colorado for seven years. In the early 1940s, he began commercial construction and founded the Sam Stoole Construction Company. Buildings built by Sam included Denver Public schools, Neusteter's Department store in downtown Denver, and several Holiday Inns. He taught wrestling to underprivileged teenagers at JCC in the 1940s.
