Leonard F. Bischel Hsinku Poem

Abstract

Dr. Kenneth Kuanling Fan was a poet from Taiwan who invented a new poem format called "Hsin Ku" or "New Classic." A Hsin Ku poem consists of four lines of four words each, with the second and fourth words nearly rhyming. This collection contains a paper fan with a Hsin Ku poem inscribed on the back by Dr. Fan.

Abstract Lilian White Spencer (1876-1953) was a playwright and poet who lived in Denver, Colorado as a child and again from 1918-1944. Spencer wrote plays, reviews of plays, script revisions, poetry and also translated French literature. She was best known in Denver for pageant writing. She wrote The Pageant of Colorado, an epic drama, which was performed May 1927 with a cast of 1,500 as part of a celebration commemorating the opening of the Moffatt Tunnel.
