The National Asthma Center's history began in 1907 as the Denver Sheltering Home for Jewish Children, which was a refuge for lower-income children whose parents were being treated for tuberculosis, or had passed away from tuberculosis. Bud Wilkinson (center) talks with Sen. Allott (R-Colo.), who is on his right, and Sen. Dominick (R-Colo.) during the Republican National Convention in San Francisco, California. Mr. Wilkinson, the former head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners college football team, addressed the convention on Tuesday, July 14th, 1964. He ran unsuccessfully for the United States Senate as a Republican from Oklahoma in 1964.

Sen. Peter Dominick (R-Colo.) and U.S. Air Force General LeMay stand together during a break in the meeting of the 9999th Air Force Reserve Squadron in Washington, D.C. The air reserve unit was organized on Capitol Hill in 1961 by Senator Barry M. Goldwater and was made up of members of Congress and their staff who were Air Force Reserve Officers. The group held meetings once a week on Capitol Hill.
