Abstract

Photograph of the face on the bar room floor painted by Herndon Davis in 1936. Davis was commissioned by the Central City Opera House Association to paint a few works for properties around Central City, Colorado. Painting is based on the poem by Hugh Antoine D'Arcy but is actually of Edna Juanita (Cotter) Davis, Herndon's wife.
