File contains one business letterhead or flyer for The Dewey Liquor Company, with a handwritten note on the reverse side. The flyer is on pink paper and advertises "Dewey Whiskey", "Most Complete Stock in the West", among other information.

Abstract

Born in 1870 in Hungary, and trained as a baker, Herskovitz moved to Denver in 1889, married Fanny Freishman (governess to the daughters of Baby Doe Tabor), founded Eastern Bakery, worked for Star Bread Company, helped organize the first bakers union, and opened Uncle Sam's Grill, a tavern. He died in 1977.

Abstract Album of 125 mounted photographs from Switzerland, France, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Italy, 54 relating to winter sports in St. Moritz. Other scenes include yachting in Cannes, holidays in Rome, Castel Gandolfo and Peruga. The sequence begins in the winter of 1908-1909, and ends in July 1911. Abstract

Interview provides detailed accounts of life in Hungary, arrival to Auschwitz Concentration Camp, description of hunger, loss of identity and basic needs. Death march and hardships after liberation are also vividly described. Elizabeth was the only member of her family to survive the Holocaust.

Interview discusses life in Hungary, immigration to Argentina, life in Argentina, immigration to the United States and life in New York and Denver. Contracted tuberculosis in New York, came Denver and was at NJH for about one year.

Abstract

Paul Kwartin was a Brooklyn cantor who was born in Hungary and raised in Denver. He sang with the Central City Opera in Denver for eight seasons, appeared in a Broadway production of "No For An Answer", and was also a business manager. He died in his Westport, Connecticut home from cancer at age 63.
