James was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives from Denver County in 1944 at age 31. He served 3 terms and was only the second person of Jewish faith elected to the Colorado House.

Overview Typed letter from C.D. Spivak in Denver, Colorado, to Dr. N.P. Levin in Edgewater, Colorado, stating receipt from Mr. H. Hurwitz, a friend of the Society, for a check of $5.55, which was collected for Mr. Morris Solomon, who stated that he wished to return to Sioux City and that if sends them $10.00, they will try to raise $10.00 here in Denver for him. Letter is unsigned but "Secretary" is typed at the bottom.
