Abstract Rabbi Judah (Yehudah) Leib Ginsburg (1888-1945) was born in Dvinsk (Daugavpils), Latvia, and came to the United States to settle in New York in 1931. Ginsburg was married to Etta Ginsburg, and the couple had two children, Moisha and Yudis. He contracted tuberculosis in New York and traveled to Denver for treatment at the Jewish Consumptive's Relief Society, where he was admitted on February 3, 1932. Ginsburg's wife and children soon followed to Denver, where the family ultimately settled....

Abstract

Twenty-three-year-old Rabbi Manuel Laderman (tallest man in the group) surrounded by delegates from the Hebrew Educational Alliance upon his arrival at Union Station, Denver, Colorado in 1932. He graduated from the Hebrew Theological College in Illinois and had just been ordained when he came to Denver to serve as the first Rabbi of the Hebrew Educational Alliance. He served as rabbi at the Orthodox synagogue until 1979. He was born August 25, 1909 and died in Denver on November 27, 1989.

Abstract

Rabbi Samuel Adelman (1916-1966) was the leader of Beth Ha Medrosh Hagodol (BMH) Synagogue from 1957 until his death in 1966. He was also the president of the Religious Council on Human Relations for Metropolitan Denver and the Denver Housing Board, and was well-known for his talks on Russian Jews. Adelman was buried at Mount Nebo Cemetery and an estimated 1,400 people attended memorial services at BMH.

Abstract Rabbi Adelman was a member of the executive committee of the Rabbinical Council of America and in 1949 he was honored by Gov. Alfred Driscoll of New Jersey for his civil rights leadership. He came to BMH in Denver in 1957 ushering in a new era for the congregation focusing on civil rights, Soviet Jewry and disability rights. He also wrote a book of religious poetry. Abstract Samuel Weil served as the rabbi of Congregation Emanuel in Denver, Colorado, in 1876-1877. He was only appointed under a 1 year contract and was granted a 6 month extension in March 1877. However, he was relieved of his duties due to "inadequacies" and remarks he made on June 1st which the board did not "countenance." The Weil family left Denver in December of 1877 after it was learned that the Rabbi had written to a Reverend in the Presbyterian Church proclaiming his belief in Jesus...
