Abstract

The sterilization room at the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS). An unidentified nurse stands near one of the autoclaves. The JCRS was a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients that was founded in 1904 by a group of immigrant Jewish workingmen along with the support of several leading physicians and rabbis in Denver, Colorado. It was located on West Colfax Avenue just outside of Denver.

Abstract

Stethoscope used at the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society consisting of two silver colored metal ear pieces with black rubber ends. There is also a V-shaped piece of silver metal and a circular piece of silver metal with plastic on one side. The rubber tubing has dried and is in pieces.

Abstract

Stethoscope used by Dr. Arthur L. Esserman, a pediatrician in Denver, Colorado. Stethoscope consisting of two silver colored metal ear pieces with black rubber ends and rubber tubing attached to other side of metal pieces. They both attach to a V-shaped piece of silver metal with a piece of red rubber at the end. Dr. Arthur L. Esserman (born 1898) was an intern at Children's Hospital in Denver from 1924 to 1926 and practiced pediatric medicine from 1926 until his death in 1952.
