Abstract

Black and white print of a hot-air balloon preparing to launch on the University of Denver (DU) campus on the current site of the Driscoll Student Center. Sturm Hall, South High School, and the downtown Denver skyline are visible in the background. A crowd of people is gathered under the balloon and around five small square tents set up on the lawn. The balloon bears the words "Columbia Savings."

Abstract A female patient receiving treatment for cancer at the American Medical Center (AMC) Cancer Research Center and Hospital in Denver Colorado. AMC was located on the grounds of the former Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS). The JCRS was a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients that was founded in 1904 by a group of immigrant Jewish workingmen along with the support of several leading physicians and rabbis in Denver, Colorado.
