Abstract

Copy of newspaper article about Senator Milton Louis Anfenger by Thomas M. Hunter. It has a photograph of Senator Anfenger and has three cartons of Milton Anfenger. It has stories of Milton Anfenger's youth, his membership in the Elks and B'nai B'rith, and his service as a Colorado state senator and in the Colorado National Guard in Cripple Creek, Colorado during the 1903-1904 strikes.

The brick Elks Lodge is a 1906 Italianate-Second Empire building. Over the front entrance is a clock with an elk's head decoration in the center of the clock. The drill team of the Denver Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is lined up on a field. Denver won the Elks' drill team competition in Portland, Oregon. It is said that Congregation Emanuel in Denver, Colorado was founded at the bris or circumcision ceremony of Milton Anfenger, the eldest son of Louis and Louise Anfenger. Milton Anfenger became a successful attorney and leader in Denver. A member of Elks Lodge #17, he was elected Exalted Ruler in 1913.
