Photograph was taken on a trip to San Francisco, California in 1923. Philip Hornbein was a Colorado trial lawyer, a leader in the fight against the Ku Klux Klan, and chairman of Colorado's Democratic Party during the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
