Abstract

This small scrapbook has a cover made out of multi-colored plaid fabric, and is bound with decorative cord. The pages are brown cardstock. The pictures in the scrapbook show Ernest and Frank Loeb as children. There are several family pictures, as well as a group photo of children in costumes. The pictures are from around 1921, when Frank was born, and 1932, when Ernest would have been eight years old.

Abstract Russian immigrants, Leon and Ella Kaplan Sobol, came from Minnesota to Denver in the early 1900s. The couple had three sons: Chester, Harry, and David, all born in Denver. In 1908, Ella Sobol signed a lease with Harris Pellish to use his property at 2715 West Colfax for a theatre until 1910. While children, Chester and Harry played the organ in the movie theater to enhance the patrons experience. Harry Sobol married Sarah L. The folder contains a copy of Confidential Report from Dr. Spivak. The report was created by Dr. C.D. Spivak who was a commissioner on the Commission Health and Sanitation of the Joint Distribution Committee. He investigated the health and sanitation of the Jews in Warsaw, Wilno, Minsk, Bobrujsk and other parts of Poland and occupied Ukraine.
