"Das Krankenzimmer" or "The Sick Room", 1920
Black and white lithograph of "Das Krankenzimmer" or "The Sick Room" which is part of a series of works artist Rachel Szalit-Marcus did for Sholom Aleichem's "Menshelakh un Stsenes" published in 1922. The image is of a older man laying in a bed with a young boy by his side, an woman to his right and a man, probably a doctor, seated at the foot of the bed. Medicine bottles are on the bedside table and a Star of David is over the mans head on the wall.

Letter that served as official discharge papers sent to Marie Loewenstein [Löwenstein in this document] for Dr. Max Loewenstein to leave Wittenauer Heilstätten, Wittenauer Sanatorium. Letter is on official Wittenauer Sanatorium stationary. Max was to be released on April 12, 1942.

Dr. Allan Hurst, 1951
Dr. Hurst specialized in tuberculosis at National Jewish Hospital in Denver. In 1950, he was invited by the Workers' Sick Fund (Histadrut) to spend four weeks in Israel studying the problem of tuberculosis. He visited hospitals and clinics throughout the country, studied the immigrant problem, and conferred with groups handling tuberculosis patients.

Dr. Allan Hurst (center) standing in a crowd of unidentified physicians. They are standing in front of the B'nai B'rith Building on the campus of National Jewish Hospital. Dr. Hurst was medical director of the hospital from 1945 to 1951. He also served in a consulting capacity as medical director of the National Home for Jewish Children and the Ex-Patients Tubercular Home. Photo is printed reversed.
