Abstract In 1899, the Jewish community erected the non-sectarian National Jewish Hospital for Consumptives (NJH), the first sanatorium in Denver, Colorado, for tuberculosis victims. With the financial assistance of the International B'nai B'rith fraternal organization, patients from all over the U.S. were admitted free of charge. Abstract

Pioneer impresario Arthur M. Oberfelder came to Denver in 1913 and by 1917 had started his own concert management company. He started the Concert Under the Stars at Red Rocks and was responsible for bringing many entertainment groups to Denver. Collection contains invitations, programs, news clippings, portraits, certificates, photographs, scrapbooks, and autograph books related to the Oberfelder family and the Oberfelder Concert series from 1924 through 1978.

Abstract

Paul Kwartin was a Brooklyn cantor who was born in Hungary and raised in Denver. He sang with the Central City Opera in Denver for eight seasons, appeared in a Broadway production of "No For An Answer", and was also a business manager. He died in his Westport, Connecticut home from cancer at age 63.
