Denver Institute for Jewish Studies

 Organization

Biography

The Denver Institute for Jewish Studies was established in 1963 to streamline adult Jewish studies throughout East Denver. There had been a frequent overlap and lack of organzation between the synagogues that offered courses. The Institute worked to coordinate and streamline adult educational programs. It was an independent non-profit organization, but collaborates with the Rocky Mountain Rabbinical Council. The courses rotated between the BMH, Temple Emanuel and Temple Sinai. Rabbi Daniel Goldberger, who had been the rabbi of Beth Joseph. was the first Dean of the Institute. The classes and special convocations covered all aspects of the Jewish Experience. The name was changed from the Denver Institute and College of Jewish Studies to Denver Institute for Jewish Studies in 1994 and the Institute voluntarily dissolved in 2007.
