Abstract

Schoch grew up in the Midwest and then traveled the world with the Red Cross during World War II. After living briefly in Chicago with her husband Ed, the Schochs moved to Colorado Springs and opened a hardware business on the west side of town. She describes family life, her role as a mother of three daughters, changes in the community over the past forty years and the unique history of Old Colorado City.

Abstract Scott was born in Mississippi and raised in Galveston, Texas. In the interview she discusses what led her to becoming a social worker, and completing her MSW at Boston University. When her husband, Cecil Scott died in 1953, Scott moved herself and her father to Colorado Springs. She returned to school to earn a teaching certificate and elementary education credentials, and worked for Colorado Springs School District 11 for twenty years.
