Congregation Zera Israel Records and Scrapbooks
Congregation Zera Israel (the Descendants of Israel) was organized on May 1, 1921 in a storefront, as a Lithuanian Orthodox synagogue. It was one of the Orthodox synagogues of West Denver. Rabbi Arthur L. Fine became the leader in 1979 and Morris B. Sapper and Julius Berger were presidents of the congregation. The collection contains Articles of Incorporation, Scrapbooks and Photographs, Events and Memorials.

Morris Hayutin Family at Balanced Rock, Colorado Springs, 1914
Morris and Anna (Ginsberg) Hayutin sitting in the front seat in the car, Soloman Hayutin is the other man in the car, and Dora and Max Ginsberg sit on the back seat. The car is parked in front of the Balanced Rock in Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Morris Hayutin's niece, Freda Hayutin (child) is also seated in the car. Members of the Hayutin family arrived in Denver in the 1890s.

Rabbi Baskin was born in New Jersey, not sure why the family came to Denver but thinks his father may have had some tuberculosis. Interview split between talking about his father Rabbi Sam Baskin and his own life.
