Abstract

Since 2004, the Friends of The Dance Archive have honored several individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to dance as "Legends of Dance in Colorado" each year. This collection contains oral histories, plaques inscribed with the names of the honorees, as well as files containing transcripts of oral histories with the honorees, biographical information about the honorees, and audiovisual recordings and highlight reels from the annual awards banquet.

Abstract Gloria Kubel recounts her early dance training and dance classes at Sarah Lawrence College where she studied under Bessie Schonberg, and guest teachers, Charles Weidman, Alwin Nikolais, Ruth Currier and Kathryn Litz. Her degree was in education but after marrying in 1957 and moving to Denver, Colorado in 1959 she decided to work in the field of dance.
