Abstract
Mortiz Bernstein was born in Koenigsburg, Prussia in 1866 and died in Denver, Colorado in 1918. He came to Walsenburg, Colorado in about 1885 and after working as an empoyee, he bought the store. His wife was Theresa Altschul Bernstein and their daughter was Eva Bernstein Stark. A wedding photo shows the wedding party at the marriage of Rose Bernstein, the younger sister of Moritz, to Max Striker. Abstract
The Striker family is a Denver Jewish family descended from the Jacobson, Fine, and Fishman families. The collection consists of religious materials that belonged to the Striker family or its ancestors. Materials include a tallit and bag, leather tefillin and accompanying bag, a machzor (or prayer book) circa 1909, and a Hebrew Bible.
