Schwatt, Herman, 1878-1935
Biography
Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS) physician and director. Second husband of May Arno Charsky, who was the sister of Jennie Charsky Spivak and sister-in-law of Dr. Charles Spivak. Was born in Mitau, Latvia on Oct. 18, 1878; came to JCRS in 1910 as Superintendent of the JCRS Sanatorium. (See Sanatorium, v.4, numbers 4 & 5 (July-Oct. 1910)). Died in 1935.

Copy of a letter sent from Dave Kirstein to Dr. H. Schwatt. Kirstein is letting Schwatt know that he arrived home safely. He tells Schwatt that he is feeling very good at the present time. He also informs Schwatt that the weather is very hot in Alabama, but the nights are a little cooler. He also tells him that he found his family all doing well. He hopes Schwatt is feeling good and hopes to hear from him soon. The letter is signed, "Yours truly, (Dave Kirstein)" at the bottom.

Copy of letter from Dr. Schwatt to Dr. Spivak, saying that Mr. Wang states he loaned $2 dollars to David Steinberg before he passed away, and that he wants his money back. Bellow it the answer from Dr. Spivak on October 18, 1911, asking if Mr. Wang has any proof that he loaned the money.

Excerpt from letter to Dr. Schwatt, 1912 July 8
Typed excerpt from a letter that was sent to Dr. Schwatt asking for information about patient Sam Karlsbad. The excerpt states that Karlsbad died a few months after he left the sanatorium. The note continues to say that there is not a single entry on his application; therefore, whatever information Schwatt can provide about Karlsbad will be greatly appreciated.
